Who are you and what do you do?
I am Paul Bagnall and I have an architectural practice that I share with my other business partner, Mark Webster. We are architects that provide traditional architectural services but with a twist – 3D visualisations and virtual reality headsets.
Where do you Live?
East London, quite near work. This allows me to be close to my family and clients – without the commuting.
What do you love about your job?
I honestly do not see it as a job. To me, this is my life. Sometimes I can be so into my work that hours and hours will have passed without me realising.
What is the best part of your job?
When the client tells me, ‘Paul, you were right, it looks amazing!’ Making a difference in people’s lives whether it’s a simple loft conversion or a lovely rear/basement extension. Seeing the project built and the client’s satisfaction gives me happiness.
What is the worst part of your job?
There is no down side to my job. But if I must – probably when I have to go home or when I’m on holiday and I cannot be at my desk working.
What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?
Being featured in West Essex Life or sipping champagne at the invitation of very happy clients.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
At my desk. We hope to thoroughly establish EV Architects and build flats with bigger partners or joint-ventures. We are currently working on an extension to Europe’s largest special needs school in Walthamstow. So yes, probably still at my desk in five years time.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to participate in motor sports, read and sip some red wine – but not all at the same time.
What is your greatest fear?
Not having enough time to do everything I need in 24 hours.
Where do you go for a guy’s night out?
I have no friends!
What’s your drink of choice after a hard day?
Red wine or Newcastle brown ale.
What is top on your bucket list?
I would like to see a whale close up or win the World Rally Championship.
